The picturesque old town, pleasantly situated on a plateau surrounded by fields of flowers, for a long time was known as "the paradise of fragrances". Since the middle ages, the local tanneries perfumed their leather gloves. Later some perfumers settled in Grasse, and made the city world famous because of their products. Especially the parks and gardens give a special charm to the provencal village.
Especially the musée International de la Parfumerie, or a tour to the local perfume makers are worth a visit.
If possible, you should put visit the city at the spring and summer months, because then Grasse captivates with its colours and fragrances and makes the trip an unforgettable experience.
